The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Community Safety and Liaison is hiring! Qualified candidates are invited to apply for a variety of positions aimed at improving crime prevention, strengthening community policing, and enhancing departmental efficiency. The closing date for applications is 30 May 2025.

Available Posts

1. Office Manager: Office of the Head of Department

  • Ref No: CSL15/2025
  • Centre: Pietermaritzburg
  • Salary: R896,436 p.a. (all-inclusive package)
  • Requirements:
    • Degree/National Diploma (NQF 6+) in Public/Office Administration
    • 3 years junior management experience
    • Valid driver’s license
  • Key Duties:
    • Provide admin support to the HOD
    • Coordinate information flow with the Office of the Premier
    • Manage departmental resources and secretarial services

2. Assistant Director: Crime Prevention and Partnerships

  • Ref No: CSL16/2025
  • Centre: Durban North
  • Salary: R582,444 p.a. (Level 10)
  • Requirements:
    • National Diploma (NQF 6+) in Social/Police Science
    • 3 years experience in crime prevention
    • Valid driver’s license
  • Key Duties:
    • Establish and maintain CPF & safety forums
    • Implement community safety models
    • Coordinate interdepartmental crime prevention initiatives
    • Strengthen partnerships with civil society

3. Assistant Director: Court Watching and Docket Auditing

  • Ref No: CSL17/2025
  • Centre: Pinetown (eThekwini Region)
  • Salary: R582,444 p.a. (Level 10)
  • Requirements:
    • National Diploma (NQF 6+) in Law, Police Science, Criminology, etc.
    • 3 years relevant experience in prosecution/investigation/monitoring
    • Valid driver’s license
  • Key Duties:
    • Monitor police dockets and case handling
    • Evaluate compliance with policing directives
    • Address complaints related to police service delivery
    • Enhance district-level police oversight
