Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting at NQF level 7
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant supervisory experience
- A valid driver’s licence
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Preparation of Financial Statements
- BAS, LOGIS and PERSAL systems
- PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, Public Service Regulations and related prescripts
- Modified Cash Standard (MCS) and the Accounting Manual for Departments
- Ability to interpret and apply National Treasury Guidelines and frameworks
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, including irregular hours when required
- Strong competence in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Proven ability to plan, organise, analyse and communicate clearly

Duties
As Assistant Director: Financial Accounting, you will manage core financial governance functions for IPID. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Financial Statements Preparation and Reporting
- Compile monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Coordinate and collect all inputs required for accurate financial reporting
- Verify submissions received from management and ensure correctness before inclusion in statements
- Prepare audit-ready supporting files in line with National Treasury requirements
2. Financial Governance and Compliance
- Maintain and update key registers, including:
- Fruitless and wasteful expenditure
- Irregular expenditure
- Unauthorised expenditure
- Serve as secretariat for committees such as:
- Financial Misconduct Committee
- Loss Control Committee
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to resolve audit findings and ensure compliance with PFMA, Treasury Regulations and related legislation
3. Internal Controls and Risk Management
- Establish, implement and monitor internal financial control systems
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Support risk management by proactively identifying and resolving financial irregularities
4. Performance Monitoring and Evaluation
- Collect and consolidate both financial and non-financial information to support BEE audit compliance
- Provide financial input into strategic planning processes and departmental performance reviews
- Support accurate, compliant financial performance reporting to management

What Happens If You’re Shortlisted
If you are shortlisted, the following applies:

- Suitability checks, including criminal record, citizenship, credit record, qualification verification and employment verification (including exit reasons).
- Security vetting. Your character must be beyond reproach.
- You may be required to undergo relevant competency and technical assessments.
- If you are appointed:
- You will be placed on a 12-month probation period
- You will be required to sign a performance agreement
- You must disclose any conflict of interest, including memberships of Boards and directorships
