About the Board Appointment
The South African Library for the Blind is a Schedule 3A public entity, governed by the SALB Act (Act 91 of 1998), and mandated to provide national library and information services to blind and print-handicapped individuals in South Africa.
The Minister seeks individuals with the following competencies:
- Strategic and managerial experience
- Financial or legal expertise
- Skills in education, research, or marketing
- Background in corporate governance
- A deep understanding of issues affecting the blind and print-disabled
- A demonstrated commitment to community service
Board members will be compensated in line with National Treasury guidelines.
What to Include in Your Nomination
All nominations must include:
- A signed nomination letter with full names, address, and contact numbers of the nominee, and reasons for nomination
- An updated Curriculum Vitae with three contactable references
- A signed acceptance letter from the nominee explaining their suitability
- Certified copies of ID and qualifications
Incomplete nominations will not be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and all nominees will undergo suitability and background checks before final appointment.
