Minimum Requirements:

  • Mathematics (Senior Grade)
  • Completed Track Master Course
  • Phase I, II & III theory and experiential training
  • Train-working rules
  • Driver’s license

Key Performance Areas:

  • Impose and uplift speed restrictions
  • Track closing and re-opening
  • Apply safe working procedures and safeguarding of crews
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and personal protection
  • Plan and manage work using data from IM 2000, EMPAC, patrolman reports, and ultrasonic measurement tools
  • Perform repairs according to prescribed standards
  • Ensure Act 85 and Act 16 compliance and environmental responsibilities

Training & Knowledge Required:

  • Manual for Track Maintenance
  • Train-working rules and heavy on-track machine operations
  • Knowledge of track materials and safety legislation (OHS Act)
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Basic financial and contract management understanding
  • Environmental awareness
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Access, and Windows
