Artisan Electrician (Permanent)
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent N4 Certificate
- Valid Electrician Trade Certificate
- High Voltage Regulations (ORHVS Regs)
- First Aid Level 1
- Code C1 Driver’s Licence
- Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
- Physically healthy and fit; able to work at heights
- Proficiency in English and at least one other official language of the Western Cape
- Exposure to SSEG, inverters, UPS and solar plant environments (added advantage)
Key Performance Areas
- Perform high voltage switching as per ORHVS regulations
- Troubleshoot, fault-find and repair medium and low voltage electrical systems
- Maintain, construct, install and commission municipal electrical networks, including:
- 11kV and 22kV overhead lines and underground cables
- Switchgear, Mini-Substations, RMUs and Transformers
- 400V/230V distribution kiosks and heat-shrink cable joints
- Maintain streetlights, high mast lights and traffic lights
- Install new domestic service connections and prepaid meter installations/conversions
- Inspect electrical installations and report findings
- Ensure on-site Occupational Health and Safety and supervise staff
- Attend to customer electrical faults and complaints
- Perform overtime and standby duties on a roster basis
- Operate heavy and specialised vehicles and equipment (e.g. crane trucks)
- Promote safety, health practices and good housekeeping at all times
