Committee Vacancies
1. Audit Committee (x2 posts)
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 8 qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience on Audit/Performance/Governance Committees within Local Government or similar entities
- Knowledge of Local Government legislation (MFMA, MSA, PMR 2001)
- Membership of a relevant professional body
Targeted Expertise Areas:
- Internal Audit and Financial Controls
- Risk Management
- Accounting (GRAP)
- Legal, IT, Project Management
- Human Resources & Labour Relations
- Engineering, Forensic Investigations
- Corporate Governance
Responsibilities (as per MFMA Section 166):
- Advise on internal controls, risk, governance, financial reporting, performance, and compliance
- Review annual financial statements
- Respond to Auditor-General’s findings
- Conduct investigations as required
2. Performance Audit Committee (x1 post)
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 8 qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in performance or governance committees with clean audit track record
- Knowledge of Local Government legislation
- Membership of a relevant professional body
Desirable Skills:
- Performance Management & Evaluation

- Legal and IT Governance
- Project Management
- Human Resources and Internal Controls
Responsibilities (as per Performance Management Regulations):
- Review quarterly performance reports
- Review the performance management system
- Submit biannual audit reports to Council
Terms and Remuneration
- Contract Period: 3 years (01 July 2025 – 30 June 2028)
- Meeting Frequency: Minimum 4 meetings annually; additional meetings as required
- Remuneration: Professional fees as per National Treasury Guidelines. Those employed in the public sector will be reimbursed only for travel/data costs (no professional fees).
