HDA Opens Temporary Admin Assistant Vacancy in Office of the CEO

The Housing Development Agency (HDA) has announced a temporary employment opportunity for an Administrative Assistant within the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, offering suitably qualified candidates a chance to gain governance and executive administration experience in a key public sector institution.

The position is offered on a six-month contract with an all-inclusive remuneration package of R19 500 per month. Applications close on 11 February 2026.

Supporting executive governance

According to the HDA, the Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and governance support to the Senior Officer: Committee Officer, with a strong focus on Executive Committee (EXCO) coordination, document control, meetings administration, and compliance with governance frameworks.

The role involves close interaction with senior leadership structures, including EXCO, the Company Secretary, coordinators, and internal departments, as well as external stakeholders such as government departments, service providers, and state-owned entities.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Diary and meeting management for the Office of the CEO and EXCO-led committees
  • Coordinating meetings in line with approved Terms of Reference and governance frameworks
  • Preparing, distributing, and filing agendas, minutes, attendance registers, and committee documentation
  • Managing executive records, document tracking, and governance files
  • Supporting board and sub-committee reporting processes
  • Coordinating travel arrangements and monitoring invoices, travel claims, and expense claims
  • Assisting with procurement compliance and departmental budget monitoring
  • Maintaining secure, auditable records in line with information management and POPIA requirements

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must hold a Diploma in Business Administration or Public Administration, with at least three years’ experience in an administrative role. Strong computer literacy, excellent communication skills, organisational ability, and the capacity to multitask in a high-pressure executive environment are essential.
