Office of the Chief Justice Vacancies 2026: Judge Secretary & Registrar’s Clerk Posts Open

The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) has advertised new vacancies under Annexure L, with applications closing on 27 February 2026. Preference may be given to women, youth and persons with disabilities in line with Employment Equity targets.


Quick summary of posts

1) Assistant Director: Judicial Support (Ref No: 2025/401/OCJ)

Salary: R468 459 – R551 823 per annum (Level 09)
Centre: Supreme Court of Appeal, Bloemfontein

Minimum requirements

  • National Diploma (NQF 6) in Office Management / Business Administration or relevant
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an administrative/office management environment
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, prescripts and online court systems
  • Strong communication, report writing, presentation, and people management skills

Key duties

  • Provide administrative support to the judiciary and manage the judge’s office operations
  • Coordinate meetings, diaries, correspondence, reports and presentations
  • Manage reserved judgments correspondence and monthly statistics
  • Administer budget and process invoice verification for the judge’s office
  • Records management: collection, distribution, retrieval and filing

2) Judge Secretary (Ref No: 2025/402/OCJ)

Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per annum (Level 07)
Centre: Land Court, Randburg

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12
  • 1–2 years secretarial experience
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Advantage: LLB / Bachelor of Law or at least 20 modules completed (results must be attached)

Key duties

  • Manage calls, diary, appointments and visitors for the Judge
  • Prepare and manage court rolls and track outcomes
  • Ensure judgments/orders are typed, scanned and uploaded to CaseLines/Court Online where required
  • Maintain registers (reviews, reserved judgments) and submit court roll stats
  • Handle logistics, travel arrangements, claims support and records filing

3) Registrar’s Clerk (Ref No: 2025/403/OCJ)

Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 05)
Centre: Mpumalanga Division of the High Court, Middelburg

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 (no experience required)
  • Advantage: 3-year National Diploma (NQF 6) / relevant qualification (360 credits)

Key duties

  • Case flow support, stakeholder enquiries and correspondence
  • File management, appeals and petitions administration
  • Capture and update case info on Registrar’s tools, Court Online and CaseLines
  • Issue court processes (including online), maintain registers and compile court statistics
  • Archiving, retrieval and movement control of court files
