Post 04/133: Finance Clerk: Financial Control and Accounting – Ref No: DT03/2026 (X2 Posts)

Contract: 6 Months (Readvertisement – previous applicants must reapply)
Salary: R228 321 per annum, plus 37% in lieu of service benefits

Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Basic knowledge of financial functions and practices, capturing data, operating a computer, and collating financial statistics
  • Basic knowledge of Public Service financial legislation and prescripts: PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR, PPPFA, Financial Manual
  • Knowledge of financial systems (PERSAL, BAS, Safetyweb, LOGIS) will be an added advantage
  • Skills: computer operating skills, planning and organisation, good verbal and written communication, basic numeracy, ability to perform routine tasks, ability to operate office equipment

Duties

  • Clear BAS exceptions online, request BAS reports, clear PMG accounts, process journals on BAS
  • Create/import/link/amend entities on BAS and LOGIS, capture on Safetyweb and obtain bank detail verification
  • File and archive entity documentation; respond to enquiries regarding entities
  • Verify banking details for LOGIS procurement and project payments
  • Receive and verify payment documents, reconcile BAS registers, check checklists and supporting documents, follow up outstanding cases
  • File reconciled payment registers and batches, archive documents, print and reconcile payment stubs and disbursement reports
  • Extract payment stubs for internal/external clients on request

Requirements

  • Matric (with subjects Mathematics and Accounting)
  • Basic knowledge and insight of Public Service financial legislation and prescripts: PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR, PPPFA, Financial Manual
  • Knowledge of basic financial operating systems (PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS) will be an added advantage
  • Skills: computer operating skills, planning and organisation, good verbal and written communication, basic numeracy, ability to perform routine tasks, ability to operate office equipment
  • Ability to manage projects independently, knowledge and skills in financial management, ability to interpret and apply policies, strategies and legislation

Duties

  • Receive and check claims (agenda, approvals, receipts, calculations, and advance verification), capture on PERSAL and manage enquiries
  • Record claims in register and file weekly after stamping paid
  • Process travel and subsistence advances: verify calculations, authorisations and attachments, capture on BAS
  • Verify allocation, invoice numbers, amounts, banking details and signatures; monitor cellphone/3G limits and certify tax invoices
  • Download BAS information and compile registers, finalise batches and stubs, submit weekly batches for safekeeping
  • Handle LOGIS online orders: verify invoice/order details, capture orders, compile payment registers, finalise batches and respond to payment enquiries
