Role Overview

The ICT Officer will report to the ICT Systems Administrator and will be responsible for:

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ICT operating systems.
  • Ensuring availability of software, hardware, and applications infrastructure.
  • Providing ICT support services to SALGA users and municipalities.
  • Supporting ICT governance and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant ICT qualification at NQF Level 7.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in ICT support at a similar level.
  • Knowledge of ICT support in complex environments.
  • Familiarity with Financial & SCM statutory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products:
    • Microsoft 365
    • Windows 11
    • MS Copilot
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • Desktop configuration & endpoint management

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Maintenance: Manage operating systems, application software, and computer hardware. Conduct safety checks and troubleshoot faults.
  • Access Management: Create and manage user accounts, profiles, and password issues.
  • User Support & Training: Provide ICT help desk support, user training, and technical guidance.
  • Support to Municipalities: Assist municipalities with ICT governance, hardware, and software.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Track user satisfaction, manage queries, and improve ICT services.
  • Reporting: Compile reports on ICT activities and performance.
  • Procurement: Work with Supply Chain Unit for ICT product and service acquisitions.
