Position Details:

  • Salary: R376 413 – R443 403 per annum (Level 08)

Key Responsibilities: As a Chief Security Advisor, you will play a critical role in shaping security governance across Western Cape Government institutions. Your duties will include:

  • Security Governance: Influence and implement security governance frameworks within the institutions of the Western Cape Government (WCG).
  • ISO-aligned Methodologies: Support departments in the implementation of ISO security methodologies for people, processes, and technology.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct safety and security risk assessments and investigate any breaches.
  • Safety Culture: Work to embed a positive security culture within facilities and advise departments on Occupational Health and Safety compliance.
  • Human Resources and Budgeting: Contribute to human resource practices and help ensure sound budget practices within the department.

Qualifications and Requirements: To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification).
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a security management or related field.
  • A valid Code B (or higher) driving license (Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply).
  • Knowledge and experience in security-related legislation, ISO security standards, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Risk Management: Familiarity with ISO 31000 (Risk Management), ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), and ISO 27001 (Information Security).
  • Strategic and Creative Thinking: Ability to analyze and solve problems creatively and strategically.
  • Communication: Clear communication skills to effectively advise departments and staff.
  • Security Management: In-depth understanding of safety and security management processes and legislation.
