Key Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: An appropriate Honours Degree in Environmental Management, Physical/Natural Sciences, or Engineering (or an equivalent qualification).
- Experience: A proven background in Environmental Management, particularly Air Quality Management Systems, Regulatory Services, and Environmental Legislation. Experience in compliance monitoring, licensing, permitting, and air quality management planning is highly recommended.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of air quality management and pollution control systems.
- Proficiency in environmental legislation such as NEMA (National Environmental Management Act) and NEM: AQA (National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act).
- Research and technical report writing skills, along with the ability to analyze and interpret scientific reports.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Candidates must also have a valid Code B driving license.
Job Responsibilities
As the Environmental Officer, your main responsibilities will include:
- Technical Expertise: Providing specialist advice on the development and administration of air quality management systems, including atmospheric emissions licensing and air quality management planning.
- Project Management: Leading and guiding specific air quality regulatory projects such as emissions inventory and dispersion modeling, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Regulatory Services: Offering expert advice on air quality regulatory matters, including the Atmospheric Emissions Licensing process, and supporting the enforcement of environmental legislation.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitoring compliance with statutory obligations, including those stipulated by NEMA and NEM: AQA.
- Strategic Planning: Contributing to strategic and financial planning, human resource management, and administrative functions related to air quality projects.
