About merSETA

The Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) is a Schedule 3A public entity established in terms of the Skills Development Act (Act No. 97 of 1998). The SETA facilitates skills development across multiple sectors, including:

  • Metal and Engineering
  • Motor Retail and Components Manufacturing
  • Automobile Manufacturing
  • Plastics Manufacturing
  • New Tyre Manufacturing
  • Automotive Components Manufacturing

Latest merSETA Vacancy: Specialist Supply Chain (C3)

Reference Number: SSC/HO/04/02/25
Salary Level: R40 103 per month
Contract Type: Fixed-term (12 months)
Location: Head Office

Job Purpose

The Specialist Supply Chain will support merSETA’s procurement needs by managing procurement processes and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Processing procurement requests efficiently and ensuring compliance with proper procedures.
  • Reviewing RFQ reports, PPFA scoresheets, and purchase requisitions before order generation.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of purchase orders and maintaining an up-to-date procurement plan dashboard.
  • Coordinating and scheduling Bid Specification Committee meetings.
  • Reviewing tender advertisements and monitoring tender closure processes.
  • Preparing bid recommendation reports and ensuring compliance in procurement activities.
  • Overseeing tender screening reports before Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Education:
    • A 3-year diploma (NQF level 6) or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years as a Supply Chain Officer/Coordinator in the public sector.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of bid committee functions in the tender process.
    • Proven experience in compliance reporting and auditing practices.
    • Excellent knowledge of public procurement procedures.
    • Relationship management and high attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
