What Will You Do?

As a Customer Service Agent at SAA, you will play a crucial role in providing an excellent experience for passengers. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Passenger Handling: Assist with check-in, boarding, arrivals, and baggage. Ensure passengers have the correct documentation for travel and provide general assistance.
  • Special Needs Assistance: Help unaccompanied minors, elderly passengers, and those with disabilities, ensuring they receive the support they need.
  • Customer Interaction: Keep passengers informed about delays, cancellations, and any other disruptions, handling any issues or queries with professionalism.
  • Baggage Management: Ensure proper handling of baggage, including monitoring carry-on baggage, managing excess baggage charges, and reconciling baggage after flights.
  • Customer Safety and Care: Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure passengers are always treated with care, keeping their well-being as a top priority.

Qualifications & Experience

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent at NQF level 4.
  • A 3-year diploma in Travel and Tourism or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience in a customer service environment, preferably in passenger handling and Amadeus CM, is essential.

Key Skills and Knowledge

In addition to your qualifications, here are the skills that will make you an ideal candidate for this position:

  • Customer Service Standards: Strong understanding of the service expectations within the aviation industry.
  • Amadeus Altea Customer Management (CM): Experience with passenger handling systems and tools is a must.
  • Baggage Management: Experience with baggage reconciliation, dangerous goods handling, and World Tracer System.
  • Problem Solving: The ability to think on your feet and resolve issues swiftly and professionally.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to interact with customers and colleagues.
  • Time Management: Efficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring smooth operations.
