The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is offering a range of career opportunities for talented individuals who are passionate about contributing to the growth and protection of South Africa’s economy. With the aim of achieving voluntary compliance and ensuring effective service delivery, SARS is looking for committed and skilled individuals to join their dynamic team.

Here are some of the latest vacancies at SARS for 2025:


1. Artisan X2 (10163)

Location: Pretoria, Landbank Office
Division: National Ops Enabling
Advert Closing Date: 28 March 2025

SARS is seeking two qualified artisans to maintain regional IT facilities infrastructure. This role is key to ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the IT and building-related services run smoothly. If you have experience in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems, this could be your next great career move.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute preventative and reactive maintenance programs for all assets.
  • Ensure the effective operation of IT facilities and building-related services.
  • Monitor and manage external service providers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Senior Certificate (NQF4).
  • At least 3 years of relevant artisan experience, with technical expertise in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems.

2. Specialist: Developer (X2)

Location: Head Office, Pretoria
Division: Taxpayer Engagement and Operations
Advert Closing Date: TBC

SARS is looking for skilled developers to support the Data team with the development of applications, web applications, and automation of data sources. If you’re passionate about creating cutting-edge software and enjoy working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, this role could be the perfect fit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in the development and optimization of application modules and subsystems.
  • Support the team in creating solutions to address risk profiling and case selection challenges.
  • Enhance service delivery through innovative development strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7).
  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar environment, including 2-3 years at a functional specialist level.
  • Certification in relevant technologies such as Microsoft Certified Solution Developer or other certifications supported by the SARS Enterprise Architecture Framework.

3. Auditor: Level 3 X10 (Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Pretoria
Division: Taxpayer Engagement & Operations
Advert Closing Date: TBC

SARS is looking for 10 experienced auditors to review and inspect taxpayer accounts that were impaired during the 2023/24 financial year. This special project will require candidates to apply their in-depth knowledge of the SARS Tax Administration Act (TAAct) and related tax legislation to resolve these accounts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits of taxpayer accounts, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
  • Guide business units in making decisions regarding account reinstatement or write-off.
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure accurate reporting and resolution of impaired accounts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Audit, Accounting, Debt Management, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in an Audit or Debt environment, with at least 2-3 years at a technically skilled level.
  • Extensive knowledge of the SARS Tax Administration Act and related tax legislation.
