Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Research Unit

The Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Research Unit is looking for an experienced, energetic and organized fieldworker to work on project TRUST, a cohort study examining the impact of alcohol use on TB treatment outcomes.  Based in Worcester, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with coordinating community health workers responsible for daily observed therapy (DOT), data entry and quality checking, assisting with PK/PD testing tracking and retaining participants in the study and transporting participants to among other duties. Successful candidates will be based in Worcester and will work within local health facilities.

Responsibilities: Core Requirements:
  • Ensuring compliance with study protocols
  • Coordination of DOT workers
  • Research administrative duties including data entry
  • Quality assurance
  • Assist with PK/PD duties
  • Have one to three years of relevant experience.
  • Have a Matric and a two year diploma
  • Speak fluent Afrikaans in addition to English
  • Have a valid South African driver’s license.
  • Have GCP training
  • Be competent in using REDCAP for data entry
  • Be comfortable working with participants who have active TB disease

A salary in the region of R163 000.00 per annum, cost-to-company, will be negotiated in consideration of experience and qualifications and will be at the level of Research Technologist (entry).

Successful candidates will be provided with relevant on-the-job training.
