Are you a detail-oriented professional with experience in debt management? Mintek, a prominent financial services company based in Randburg, is seeking a skilled Debtors Controller to join their team. This exciting opportunity will allow you to leverage your expertise in managing accounts and debt collection, while contributing to the company’s continued success in the industry.

Position Overview
As a Debtors Controller, your key responsibility will be to ensure the efficient collection of outstanding debts through proactive communication and effective debt management practices. Your role will involve managing customer accounts, reviewing credit limits, and ensuring that accurate and timely debt collection processes are followed. You will work closely with various teams and departments to resolve issues and ensure payments are collected promptly.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Customer Account Management
    • Maintain and update debtors’ master data, ensuring that all customer information and credit limits are accurate.
    • Perform regular credit limit reviews, taking into consideration sales, payment history, and any changes in legal status.
    • Oversee the creation of new customer accounts and ensure they are linked to the appropriate IFS modules.
    • Ensure compliance with Mintek’s Credit Control Policy and maintain all relevant documentation.
  2. Debt Collection
    • Communicate effectively with debtors to facilitate payment of outstanding debts and resolve payment issues.
    • Prepare and send payment requests, final demands, and collaborate with the debt collection agency when necessary.
    • Handle cases of overdue debt and take proactive action to ensure timely collection, including liaising with attorneys when required.
  3. Month-End Activities
    • Monitor aging debt reports and follow up on long-outstanding accounts.
    • Ensure all payments, invoices, and credit notes are processed before the month-end closure.
    • Regularly report on outstanding debts and ensure that actions are taken to resolve overdue accounts.
  4. Reporting & Compliance
    • Prepare and distribute monthly debtors’ reports, highlighting problematic accounts and identifying trends.
    • Assist in the compilation of financial statements, especially concerning doubtful debtors.
    • Maintain updated training documentation and ensure compliance with industry best practices and Mintek policies.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Qualification:
    • Matric and a Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
    • A certificate in Credit Control is ideal.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Debtors Controller.
    • Strong background in debt management and account reconciliation.
