Key Responsibilities:
As a High Court Legal Practitioner, you will:
- Provide Legal Representation: Represent indigent accused persons in criminal matters at the High Court level, ensuring fair trials for those who cannot afford private legal services.
- Handle Complex Cases: Manage complex criminal High Court cases, advocating for justice and the rights of the accused.
- Supervise and Train: Play a role in developing the next generation of legal professionals by training and supervising Candidate Attorneys.
- Office Administration: Contribute to the efficient running of the office through effective administrative management.
- Advocate for Vulnerable Groups: Represent women, children, and landless people in criminal matters, ensuring that their rights are upheld in the justice system.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Admitted Attorney or Advocate: You must be a qualified Attorney or Advocate (with completed pupillage if applying as an Advocate) with a strong background in criminal law.
- Experience: At least 7 years of post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 5 years post-admission experience.
- High Court Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in handling High Court cases or 6 years in Regional Court matters.
- LLB Degree: A completed LLB degree is required.
- Criminal Law Expertise: A proven track record in handling criminal matters at the High Court level.
- Right of Appearance in High Court: You must have the right to appear in the High Court.
- Driver’s License (Advantageous): A valid driver’s license is considered a plus.
