Position: Assistant Asset Officer

Remuneration: R278,131 per annum (Cost to Council)
Location: Pretoria

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Asset Officer will be responsible for supporting the management of fixed assets within the HPCSA. This includes ensuring the accuracy of asset registers, conducting physical verification of assets, and overseeing the disposal and impairment processes. Key duties include:

  • Asset Classification & Capitalization: Ensure assets are correctly classified and capitalized in the asset registers.
  • Corrections & Updates: Identify misallocations or incorrect classifications and prepare journal corrections.
  • Physical Verification: Conduct regular asset checks to ensure all assets are accounted for.
  • Asset Disposal: Prepare and update records for assets that are disposed of.
  • Financial System Updates: Ensure the asset register is updated and aligned with the financial system.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly reports on staff canteen usage, staff telephone reports, and track asset values and disposals.
  • Ad-Hoc Requests: Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Head of Department or other supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following educational and experience criteria:

  • Grade 12 with Accounting plus an N6 Certificate or a National Higher Certificate in Accounting/Financial Accounting.
  • 1 year of finance working experience.

Competency Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong planning and organizing abilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • The capability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy, with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
