  1. Senior Deal Originator: Transport, Logistics & Bulk Water

    • Location: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa
    • Job Grade: 16

As the Senior Deal Originator, you will play a crucial role in the strategic execution of the DBSA’s business objectives. The role involves identifying and originating projects within the Transport, Logistics & Bulk Water sectors, working with global and regional partners, and managing the deal-making process to secure investments and make projects bankable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong client relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Work with internal teams to structure, prepare, and finalize investment deals.
  • Contribute to the bank’s business strategy and ensure the pipeline of development-impact projects remains strong.
  • Analyze the political and financial landscapes to inform investment strategies and mitigate risks.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Honours degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or Engineering.
  • 8-10 years of experience in project finance, corporate finance, or structured finance.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing infrastructure investment deals, particularly in South Africa and across Africa.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.

  1. Investment Controller X2
    • Reference Number: DBS250116-1
    • Location: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa
    • Job Grade: 16
    • Closing Date: 31 January 2025

The Investment Controller role involves overseeing the financial management of DBSA’s investments, ensuring compliance with corporate governance and financial regulations. You will work closely with various teams to manage treasury accounts, assets, liabilities, and maintain strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee investment portfolios and ensure proper financial management.
  • Ensure compliance with international reporting standards, including IFRS and Basel.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic input for investment decisions.
  • Manage back-office operations and reporting in accordance with financial regulations.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting.
  • At least 5 years of experience in investment banking, including experience in treasury accounting and portfolio management.
  • Strong understanding of international financial regulations (IFRS, Basel, GAAP).
  • Experience with accounting tools such as SAP or Quantum is a plus.

  1. Business Continuity Management Specialist
    • Reference Number: DBS240416-1
    • Location: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa
    • Job Grade: 16
    • Closing Date: 29 January 2025

The Business Continuity Management Specialist will lead efforts to ensure the resilience of DBSA’s operations in the event of business disruptions. You will develop, implement, and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans, providing expert guidance to the bank’s risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop business continuity plans and test their effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with various teams to ensure the implementation of disaster recovery measures.
  • Advise senior management on risk management and continuity planning.
  • Stay updated on legal and regulatory requirements regarding data protection and business continuity.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in Business Continuity Management, particularly within the financial sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management frameworks (ISO, COSO, ITIL).
  • Strong project management skills and experience in incident/crisis management.
