Post Title: Assistant Director – Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: LLB Degree (admission as attorney/advocate is an advantage)
- Experience: 3–5 years in legal practice or legal advisory roles
- Knowledge Areas:
- Constitutional, administrative, labour, contract, civil procedure, delict, commercial law
- Governance, risk management, and compliance in the public or private sector
- Legislative frameworks for the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) sector
- Skills:
- Strong legal drafting and advisory skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Conflict resolution, planning, risk evaluation, problem-solving
- Advanced computer literacy
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft submissions for senior management, DG, and Minister approvals
- Ensure NSF compliance with relevant legal, risk, and governance standards
- Develop internal control frameworks and risk mitigation strategies
- Conduct internal audits, prepare audit findings, and support committee decisions
- Provide legal opinions, manage litigation, and coordinate external legal counsel
- Conduct legal research, write reports, and assist with contract law compliance
- Support and promote NSF policy, values, and strategic operations
