Post Title: Audit Committee Members and Chairperson

Minimum Requirements:
- Education: NQF level 8 qualification in Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing, Risk Management, ICT, or related fields.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years as a member of an Audit Committee in the public sector
- Plus 3 years as a Chairperson of an Audit Committee
- Professional Body Membership: Required (e.g. CA(SA), CIA, CISA, CCSA, CICP, CFE – advantageous)
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep understanding of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, governance, and internal controls
- Familiarity with ICT audit and governance, security, and programme management
- Solid grasp of risk management, internal/external audit, public finance, and accounting/reporting practices
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as an Advisory Committee to the Accounting Officer as per PFMA
- Review governance, risk management, internal controls, and audit plans
- Oversee the integrity and reliability of financial and management information
- Assess coordination between internal and external audits
- Review significant audit findings and the quality of financial statements
- Attend at least five meetings annually, with flexibility for additional sessions
- Advise on incidents of a criminal or irregular nature and internal audit effectiveness
- Operate in accordance with the Audit Committee Charter
