Position Overview: Sub Unit Head: Children’s Services Programme
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 with a relevant Degree in Child Development, Education, Community Development, Social Sciences (NQF Level 7)
- Postgraduate degree (advantageous)
- 3 years’ experience in a child development environment
- 7–9 years in social development, with 6 years in management
- Valid Code 8 driver’s licence
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Child development, programme design and implementation
- Local government and financial management legislation
- Staff management, stakeholder engagement, and reporting
- Computer literacy, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and oversee the City-wide implementation of the Children’s Services Programme (ages 0–18)
- Align programmes with legal and policy frameworks
- Monitor, evaluate and report on programme effectiveness
- Oversee budgeting, project execution, and compliance
- Build strategic partnerships with external and internal stakeholders
- Lead the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure performance management and support staff development
