The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is calling on both internal employees and external applicants to apply for two exciting permanent positions.

Available Positions:

  1. Executive Secretary
  2. Secretariat (Department: Private Office of the Executive Mayor, Johannesburg Aids Council)

1. Executive Secretary – Johannesburg Aids Council

Location: Braamfontein
Remuneration: R26,566.17 per month (basic salary, excluding benefits)
Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 Certificate (Matric)
  • Qualification: National Diploma in Administration (NQF level 6 or equivalent)
  • Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in an administrative work environment
  • Additional: A valid driver’s license

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle administrative tasks related to new assets, transfers, donations, and disposals.
  • Coordinate the procurement process and manage expenditures.
  • Provide administrative support and assist with hosting key events for the Johannesburg Aids Council.
  • Support personnel development initiatives and intersectoral collaboration.

Skills Needed:

  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, Email, and Internet).
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

2. Secretariat – Johannesburg Aids Council

Location: Braamfontein
Remuneration: R60,077.46 per month (basic salary, excluding benefits)
Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12/NQF level 4, plus a degree in a health-related field, social sciences, behavioral/developmental studies, public administration, or equivalent at NQF level 7.
  • Postgraduate Degree: Required (NQF level 8/9)
  • Optional: Diploma in HIV Management.
  • Experience: At least 8 years’ experience in the public or private health space, with 5 years or more at the senior management level.
  • Additional: A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of HIV, TB, and STI response programs in alignment with national strategies.
  • Manage the Johannesburg Aids Council’s budget, financial forecasting, and reporting.
  • Facilitate communication services within departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and ensure governance and risk activities are carried out effectively.

Skills Needed:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategic thinking, leadership, and change management.
